View a MapJewel Cave is a breathtaking subterranean world and the largest show cave in Western Australia. Located just 12km north of Augusta and 38km south of Margaret River, this award-winning attraction features three immense chambers adorned with some of nature’s most mesmerising crystal formations.
From the moment you step inside, you’re surrounded by delicate rock creations that have taken thousands of years to form. Jewel Cave is home to one of the longest straw stalactites found in any tourist cave in Australia. You'll also see helictites, stalagmites, flowstone, fossils, coral-like structures and more—all artfully lit to highlight their intricate beauty.
During the fully guided tour, you’ll also hear the fascinating story of how this cave became the final resting place of now-extinct Tasmanian Tigers that once roamed the area and fell into the cave’s depths.
Knowledgeable and enthusiastic guides lead each tour, bringing the cave’s story to life. A minimum of two people is generally required for a tour to operate. These family-friendly experiences are great for all ages, and children are made to feel welcome and included.
Photography is welcome, and at one point, the lights are turned off for a full blackout experience—a thrilling way to truly feel the depth and silence of the underground world.
It’s recommended to book in advance, especially during busy seasons. Jewel Cave tours can also be included as part of tourism packages—an excellent value for visitors exploring the region.
Entry to the cave is via 250 steps, so wear comfortable shoes. The cave stays much cooler than above ground, so bring an extra layer and some water to stay comfortable.
After your underground journey, take a self-guided walk along the Karri Bush Trail, which surrounds the Jewel Cave Centre. This beautiful trail winds through towering forest giants and leads you to the original surface opening—the hole where Jewel Cave was first discovered!
The Jewel Cave Centre is more than just an entry point—here, you’ll find an informative Interpretive Centre, a charming Gift Shop, and a Café that offers delicious coffee, light lunches and refreshments with views of the karri forest. It’s a peaceful and inspiring place to reflect on your journey beneath the earth.
